Thats a good question Scott, it seems to me also that there doesnt seem to be any significant difference. Same applies to AU-11000 & AU-11000A. The only thing I can come up with at this time is that perhaps the A denotes European models, as the A models are shown in a German Sansui catalog I have, and the non-A's are shown in the U.S. catalogs I have. To support that theory, I'd say to check the A models for the 220V labels on the back of the units.
