OK, so it's not the tweeters themselves - I took one out and touched a set of speaker wires (low volume) to them, and got sound (and could feel the speaker vibrating - which I couldn't during normal use).
So, can it be the crossover? It's a 4-way.
Is it possible that the crossover is letting only such high frequencies to the tweeters that: 1) it's too high a frequency to feel any vibration? and 2) I can't hear them because ... I don't know - maybe I'm losing my hearing at the high end?
