The TU-717 is an excellent tuner, one of the most popular models that Sansui ever made, so its well worth fixing (unless you want to buy a working one on Ebay with no problems, but that'll cost about $200, maybe more).

As to your question, well- why not ask your Tech who will be repairing it, if he needs the S.M. to fix it? Perhaps he may already have the manual, but if not, it certainly could only be helpful to have one.
