The idea about it being related to the glue is something I havent heard before but I think its sounds like a very plausible idea. Especially if the protector light seems to flash more often when the weather is very humid (the humidity in the room affecting the glue inside the amp)

Someone else wrote to me in an email a while back and suggested to check these things when the protector light flashes:

1. DC on the output caused by fault in the output stage.
2. Shorted transistor in the protection circuit, either in the output
stage or relay drive/protection circuit.
3. Open capacitor in the protection circuit causing false tripping of
the protection circuit.
4. Open or high value emitter resistor.
