: Can anybody tell me about the classique servo components from sansui are they considered Sansui

I have two of the Classique amps and a tuner. While they are a step above what is considered consumer grade currently being sold, they are at least 2 or 3 steps down from the "quality wars" years of the 70's.

The amps have a fine treble but lack the impact and ambiance of earlier Sansui components.

The tuner is average to above average in sensitivity and selectivity and is quite good. Its also pretty slick with an auto seek analog tuning dial. It too however is way below the earlier standards set by the TU-717, 919, 9900, X1, etc.

Casings dropped from metal to plastic. Internals degraded from the best available to marginal. Overall build quality sank from bulletproof to uninspiring.

Still... they are not too bad. At least the engineers were still trying even after if the accountants took over.

Don't know why they were called "Classique". Perhaps someone else on the board could shed some light.
