In my technical point of view, 517 is better than 717 as I suppose they're using same size transformer, and 517 should have a better current rating. In addition, 517 doesn't has the extra pre-amp circuit (tone control) and it should direct a cleaner signal path.
: I suggest you better keep it, or it should worth more than US$200 if it's in good condition.
