Hi Fred,
My G7500 ser.# : 859 011 168.
God, that was so many years ago you know I can't even remember exactly what I paid for it. I do recall it listed for $620.00 (correct?) I swear-to-God Fred, she's just as minty as the day I brought her home! TLC. Even though I did not get the G9000, the G7500 just "grew on " me. Just does not have the muscle of a G9k. As I already said....I'll never get rid of this G7500 even when I do get a G9000.(someday). Just to nice to sell off.
As for the salesman telling me I could NOT buy a G9000, it is just possible that the guy did not WANT to order it for me...although it was much more expensive...probably wanted me to buy what was in the store at that time, but why he allowed me to pay for the thing in advance. A strange mystery, I'll never know I guess. I remember being super-bummed out when they called & said "no more G9000's".
I was very young & naieve at the time (18),so who knows what was going on. Yes, while my teenage freinds were buying "car-stuff"...I was buying stereo-stuff!
Anyway it wasn't something I lost a lot of sleep over, I was just happy to get a really great receiver that I ended-up cherishing in the long run. It has only been the last few years or so that I've been longing to find a G9000. I've been trying to do it without dealing with ebay, but I just might have to go that way.

My brother collects vintage audio and is keeping his eyes open for me. He's got a few "G" units as well as some of the older stuff. He's been trying to get my G7500 off me for years, but it wont happen!(I hope he reads this!!!!).

Talk about good deals...would you believe I saw an ad in my local "Tradin'Times" paper back in 1986-87 (Before ebay)....an ad reading something like this:" Two Sansui stereo recivers, E.C..G22,000 & G33,000...$325.00 EACH...or $650.00 for both.." (!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

Did'nt have the money at the time, NEVER,never will you see an ad like that again.

I'm rambling too much, so take care Fred.
Russ
