The AU-G77X came out in the mid 80's before the XII. The wattage is the same on both models, 110W. (The top model in the Line by the way, was the AU-G99X at 160W). The II version of the 77X looks quite a bit different, I'm actually surprised that Sansui just didnt give the II a totally different model # altogether. And also interestingly, they only made a II version of the 77X but not the others like the 99X or 55X etc..
I have an AU-G77X in my Sansui collection. I think its a decent amplifier but I like the earlier models better- the AU-717 and AU-919 for example of the late 70's. The build quality on these two models is certainly better. The AU-G77X feels a little flimsy with the plastic front panel and switches.
