Hi Dave
Super Tweeters operate only in high frequencies. For SP-3000 the crossover is 10000Hz and they deliver only frequencies above 10kHz. Itīs hard to hear (depending on your ages) Ask your younger children or someone else having good ears. The amplitude of lower frequencies easily damage tweeters as they can move their cone necessary for the lower frequencies. You are lucky if your tweeter still is okay after connecting without crossover network.

: Thought maybe one of you Sansuiphiles could answer a question. I have picked up several old pairs of Sansui speakers (right now I have a pair of SP-3000 and SP-X6 speakers). I have had other pairs in the past. Alot of times when I test the speakers they sound good but I don't seem to hear anything coming from the small cone tweeters (I think these are usually called super tweeters?). The two pairs I have now sem to have that problem, but I opened up the cabinets and at a very low volume connected the speaker wire directly to the tweeters. Well, they work fine. So I was wondering. Does this indicate a problem with the crossovers, or are these super tweeters only supposed to kick in and work at certain frequencies? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
