To confirm it, simply go with what it says on the receiver itself, in which case, seems to be a regular 9900Z from what you say.

As for the paperwork- are you referring to the Owners/Operating Manual, or just a sales receipt? If its just a receipt, its possible that whoever wrote it, made a slight error by writing the extra DB at the end of the model name. If there is an owners manual you have that says 9900ZDB, I would imagine that would indicate Sansui did make a 9900ZDB model, and inside the manual there would be some instructions on using the DB function.
