I had a similar problem and found that the drive belt for the linear tone arm was broken. I replaced it and now it works. HOWEVER< I don't know how to program this thing. I'm using it in a manual mode (Putting the tone arm at the point I want to start). Do yyou know how the automatic functions work? Do you know anyone who has an instruction book?

: I acquired a P-M70 turntable from a friend of mine, but it either has problems or I don't know how to use it (since I'm one of those evil CD generation, this is entirely possible.) When I put a record on it and press the play button, it whirs and then the "Locked" light flashes. It does not appear to be locked via any means, unless the means is less than obvious. Does anyone know if this is an electronic problem, or if I'm just being stupid?

: Thanks for your help.
