I am guessing that the foam surrounds are disintegrating, a common problem with many speakers of that period. If so, you can pickup refoaming kits. They are relatively generic. The Sansui Sp-L series speakers featured dual woofers with staggered resonances. The cones and/or the surrounds (foam half-roll) are different. Chances are that the surrounds are the same and the cones (mass) are different. Refoaming kits are available for 12-inch drivers regularly on Ebay. If you are at all skilled at doing careful work with hand tools you should be able to follow the directions. Otherwise, have them repaired at a facility that recones drivers. A search on the web will turn up many such places. Orange County Speaker Works is one such place. A local repair shop will save on shipping. Note that if the cones are actually falling apart, these places routinely recone speakers with appropriate replacement cones.
Good Luck
