: : Hi,
: : My R-30 receiver suddenly died. I checked the main fuse and it's OK. I'm not getting 120V to the on/off switch -HELP - Also, when I had power, my speakers would snap, crackle, pop for about 10mins then quiet down some what after that. Any suggestions on any of the above???

: No power: check the components connecting to the power switch, such as fuse holder, voltage selector ( if you have one ) and check for continuity.
: Snap, crackle and pop at start up happened to my Sansui 350 receiver too. I changed all the electrolytics of the amplifier section and it is cured. It can also be some small signal transistors going bad, but they normally crack all the time or got noisy.
: Is the R30 a reasonable receiver to get and restored, how do you find its performance? I would like to know because I have been offer one.

Yes I find this to be a very good receiver. I've had it new since 1981 and never had anything go wrong with it until now. Maybe since I have been using it in my garage has something to do with my problem. I highly recommend this unit. You know where I can get a copy of the schematics?
