Seems to be very strange as the SR-222mk2 has a synchronous motor. Keeping the speed depending on 50Hz or 60Hz. There are two different capstans, one for 50Hz and the other for 60Hz. The speed selector moves the belt up or down. Check again the belt setting so it is correct.

: Having just sourced a new belt for my t/t which I bougt new in 1978(!) I find that this was not the problem. Both 33 and 45 speeds are too fast and have somehow reversed (i.e the speed of the 45 setting is slower than the 33). It is in great condition otherwise and am hesitant to just junk it. Any ideas?
