OH MY GOD!!! I received my new(used) AU-919 Saturday and hooked it up. Do you now what DC stands for? Direct coupled my friend. I've read about people complaining about the bass response of the ESS AMT-1 tower. I have a pair of AMT-1D's, put on some Fleetwood Mac, closed my eye's and there he was. Mick Fleetwood druming in my living room. This amp is incredible. I am replacing a Sansui AU-G77XII(rated at 110 watts) and let me tell you, the AU-919 has 10 times the power (rated at 100 watts) and 100 times the presense of the 77XII. Now, I can reproduce the sound percussion level of a live concert in my living room. My wife and nieghbors are going to hate me. It's not that I like music loud, I appreciate listening to it at the level it was meant to be listened to.
$390.00 on Ebay and worth every penny (without the oscillation problems of the AU-X1). Anybody who is thinking of upgrading to the AU-919 or its little brother, the AU-717 can't go wrong. There is something to be said for toroidal transformers and large capacitors.
Peace and enjoy the music!!!
