Hi all. Hello BeatleFred, I am am Fab4 fan too.
I use the 919 with a pair of Yamaha NS1000M studio monitors. I use the system mainly for Vinyl, CDīs and my Roland RD500 Digital Piano. The sopund is stunning. I used to sell Sansui Amps in a Hi-Fi shop back in 1978/79. Got a better job before I could afford to buy one though! I bought the amp and speakers back in 1980 and they have been immense. The only other amp I ever considered was the Yamaha CA1010, which was gorgeous, and solidly built. Its sound quality was/is comparable to the AU919, but the Sansui was a lot cheaper and represented fantastic value for money. Anyway, I havenīt seen any of the AU series for years. Although I live in England, I am currently on holiday at my in-laws in Brazil. Why is this relevant? Well, I took a trip to the local music store, and there, powering there speaker set-up was an AU517. I am going to return and ask if they will sell it, or swap it for a new amp, which I will buy to replace it. My other half thinks I am nuts, but thatīs nothing new. Anyway, other amps in my collection include Technics, Leak, Yamaha, NAD, Akai, Hitachi and Eagle. My loudspeaker collection includes, Celestion Ditton 22īs and 44īs, Monitor Audio, Sony, Acoustic Research, JVC and Pioneer.
My main turntable is an Ariston RD 11S with a Shure Series III arm with detachable head shell. Other turntables include a Technics and a Pioneer.
I love the old stuff! Regards to you all.
