MPX RCA input means that no FM MPX Stereo Circuit is built in. You are asked to connect an outboard unit. For the Phono Input which say X-tal (smile, old fashion) means that you need a Chrystal Cartridge which gives a high voltage output compared to a normal MM (Moving Magnet) Cartridge.

For your info only. Another type of Cartridge is
MC (Moving Coil) which gives very low output and you need a transformer or MC Amp if connected to ordinary Phono Input if you donīt have a MC Input available on the Amplifier.

: Thanks Sten. Can you tell me what plugs into the single MPX RCA input. I am also struggling to plug a turntable directly into the amp. Does it need an external Phono Head-amp? The turntable signal is very weak on the phono input. It says "X-tal" on the input. What does this mean?

: Trevor
