These ratings are from the FMTunerinfo.com shootouts. Sten, thanks for not giving them due credit.

FYI, the TU-9900 has not been tested by Jim who runs these shootouts. I'd expect it to make it to the top 3.

Don't underestimate the need for a real antenna to get the best out of a tuner, and if you really care for sound quality get it aligned by someone who know tuners. Would recommend, Ed Hanlon at www.antennaperformance.com both for his superb antennas and the exceptional alingnment.

: These are ranked to be on top
: Sansui TU-919 - The prince who could be king.
: Sansui TU-X1 - Very good sound top to bottom. Big soundstage, three-dimensional. Very slight diffuse sound.
: Sansui TU-X701 - Great-sounding midrange, bass OK,

: : I've read good things regarding Sansui tuners. I am thinking of purchasing one and so am wondering which three would be the best to select from and, more importantly, where I can purchase one. Any other advice---like what to be careful of---is appreciated.

: : Thanks.
